Our picnic was a huge success. Thats because our volunteers worked hard to make it happen! I'd like to see us do another big event in August. I hope to start setting up voter registration and continue phone banking. But I'd like to set up an event that we can promote as we work to reach out to the community.My idea is to hold a fundraiser for some group or organization that works to assit veterans coming home with severe mental health issues. Our government is failing to take care of our soliders.
As Democrats our policy positions support and protect our troops making sure they have everything they need when they go to war and when they come home--and also make sure they are never asked to sacrifice unless it is vital to our National Security.
But as citizens we have to do something when our government is failing to do its job. Thats why i'd like to hold a fundraiser for the troops. Everybody might think that we need to be raising money for ourselves. But I think we should take some time to use our organization to bring together people for a common cause...
