I'm running for State House because its time to end the gridlock at the Gold Dome and get things done for the citizens of this state. Georgia politicians need some good old fashioned competition from every day citizens.
That is why we need Instant Run-Off Voting. Used in Australia to elect its House of Representatives since 1949 and to elect most of its state and territory lower houses, IRV is a workable solution to the political crisis in Georgia. It saves tax payer dollars from being wasted in run-off elections that no one shows up for and gives voters the ability to have their voice heard without having to play politics with their vote.
As your State Representative I would introduce legislation to bring real competition into the political process in this state. Its time to get Independents and Libertarians elected in the State of Georgia. Its time to bring Instant Run-Off Voting to the State of Georgia!
What is IRV?
Our current political system is broken–it keeps citizens discouraged from running as candidates, suppress new ideas, and encourages negative campaigns. Party insiders demand favors for their help in getting elected and big money sets the agenda for the party in power.
These are systemic problems that can’t be solved by kicking one party out and putting the other party back in. Even politicians with the best of intentions get easily corrupted in a broken system. There is no systemic check on political power. We need to put pressure on the two parties to be responsive to the citizens of this state rather than to party insiders and political power brokers.
By empowering independent and Libertarian politicians, by giving citizens in the voting booth real choice; we create a stronger marketplace of ideas that brings about better representation, more responsive politicians, and forces the Democrat and Republican Parties to face the facts that what they are doing right now isn't cutting it. I don't trust our elected officials to fix the problems--but I do trust voters to identify the leadership we need to send to state and local government.
