| ONGOING ACTION: Ring the Bells In Remembrance - |

EACH SUNDAY AT 12:30 PM at the Friendship Bell in Bissel Park at the Oak Ridge Civic Center.
This is a committment being made by members of DFET to remember and honor those U.S. soldiers who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan during the last week. They have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country and we will take a few moments to remember and honor them. |

| DFET Proposes New Economic Stimulus Policy for Oak Ridge - |
For as long as anyone can remember, Oak Ridge's policy on economic development - like most cities in Tennessee and across the country - has simply been to hand money over to companies large and small in the form of tax abatements and other subsidies.
But do these government handouts work for our city? We tried to find out.
The following is a document researched and written by Democracy for East Tennessee members Tim Holt with the collaboration of Ellen Smith and Tom Burns. After this report is approved by the DFET membership, we plan on distributing our research and conclusions to the local press and public officials.
