POINT: The Republicans have a truly "reactionary" vision for North Carolina and America. In essence, what we are witnessing in politics today is the Conservative Movement's "Pickett's Charge" AGAINST the "New Deal" vision of the 20th Century. Their dream is for an America before Civil Rights, before Medicare, before women had the right to choose, before Social Security, and for some, even before women had the right to vote. Rick Santorum has even questioned whether STATES should be running public schools!
COUNTERPOINT: We Democrats not only believe in preserving the progressive accomplishments of the past 90 years, but we also believe in EXTENDING equality, justice, economic fairness, and liberty for ALL not just a favored few. Republicans are dreaming of a YESTERDAY that never really was; Democrats are dreamng of a better TOMORROW. And that is the DIFFERENCE!
