In 2009, Barack Obama signed a bill officially recognizing the Northern Plains National Heritage Area in central North Dakota. There are major problems with this:
- Major proponent, Tracy Potter, misled the US Congress about the level of support there was for the area.
- Landowners were NOT notified of this designation.
- The Northern Plains Heritage Foundation will have MILLIONS of federal dollars to give to groups like the Sierra Club so they can influence local land use policies.
Make no mistake about this... our property rights are at risk.
This week, the ND Senate Agriculture Committee will be hearing SB2204, which declares that no state lands can be included in the Heritage Area unless approved by the state legislature.
Tell the ND Senate Ag Committee that North Dakotans do NOT want anything to do with the Northern Plains National Heritage Area.
Demand that the state legislature works to abolish the Northern Plains National Heritage Area. Demand that the legislature protect private property rights. |
